In an letter to S.S. McClure, 1895 March 25, Pinkerton responds to a letter concerning an article on the Mollie Maguires, explaining the circumstances of the first murder trial and the use of James McParland as a witness, and enclosing the Argument of Franklin B. Gowen (not present). In a letter to McClure, 1895 March 25, Pinkerton responds to a letter concerning Michael Rogers, one of the Reno gang of Indiana train robbers. He elaborates on Rogers' criminal careet and notes that he has dictated an article on the gang to a Mr. Moffett. A magazine photograph of Pinketon is pasted to the letter. In a letter to Wiliam G. Chapman, 1911 May 21, Pinkerton expresses his displeasure with an article by George Barton on the solving of the Potter jewel theft by Pinkerton, stating he does not know Barton, did not give him the facts and had no personal connection with the case which was handled by his brother Robert A. Pinkerton and George S. Doughterty, now of the New York Police. In a letter to Pinkerton, 1911 May 22, the manager of the Chicago News offers his regrets for inaccuracies in the above article and promises to take the matter up with Barton and suppress further publication. In a letter to Pinkerton, 1912 August 12, the Manager of the Internatinal Prress Bureau requests stories for syndication.
